Description in Detail
This magnificent villa dates back to the 16th century, during the late Renaissance. Located in a few Kilometres from Cortona, the town is often called the ‘Valley of the Villas’. Like other similarly important villas, this property has been expanded and modified throughout the years, and in very recent years has undergone restoration. Today the property consists of the main building, a big orangery, an annex, cellars, a stable with an apartment and a beautiful private chapel.
An antique gate welcomes you to the property, which opens onto a long avenue of Cypress trees leading to a large ornamental fountain in front of the villa. The 10 hectares of land are made up of a variety of tall trees originating from the 19th century. There’s also a beautiful Lemon house built in a neo-gothic style, to the side of the villa.
Behind the building, a circle of oak trees with a tree-lined driveway extends all the way to the north wall. 2 areas are outlined – a park to the west, and a farm to the east, and the house rests perfectly between the two.
The park (roughly 10 hectares) that surrounds the house is a rare collection of great trees, consisting of, for example, firs, horse chestnuts, baguettes, pine trees, holm oaks, sequoias, yews, and elms, between which statues and rustic artifacts are scattered.
There are 6 apartments in the main building (2 on each floor, 2000mq in total) all with frescoed halls and various frescoed rooms on the ground floor as well as a kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. The Lemon house is on the west side of the building and would be a perfect party or banquet venue. There is a consecrated church previously used as a chapel by the Dimora family that isn’t far away with a frescoed tower and amazing windows that boast a magnificent view of the Chiana Valley.
